Ralph Lauren - Create Your Own Configurator

I had the amazing opportunity to be a part of the team who launched Ralph Lauren’s digital-first, on-demand customization experience via our configurator. A popular comparison to our configurator would be Nike’s NikeID software. With our configurator you can customize your own RL staple product such as a polo shirt, a hat, oxford, sweater, as well as other items. The customization options are broken down into three categories - “Knit it”, “Stitch it”, and “Print it”.

Knit it - “Is a true modern interpretation of Polo’s collegiate aesthetic. Options for customization include changing the color of a sleeve or cuff, adding stripes, initials, an important year, or your favorite phrase on the front or back of your sweater in fonts including Varsity, Gothic and Letterman. You can additionally personalize your items through a variety of colors and iconic graphics. This knit your own function is available digitally, as sweaters are knit to order and ship to the customer within three weeks.” - Stephen Garner

Stitch it - This is the OG customization option. Before the launch of the configurator, customers were able to customize polos and dog polos on our previous site, but this experience has been enhanced. A variety of new patches, fonts, and colors have been added. Patches include iconic Ralph Lauren symbols such as the Polo Pony, Polo Bear and more. Embroidery options include monograms that can be customized in a variety of different fonts, sizes and colors.

Print it - The “Print Your Own” customization feature enables the customer to choose their favorite graphic being offered from the Ralph Lauren collection, customize it, and have it printed just for them. These change over seasons to stay relevant. For example Christmas and Chinese New Year graphics are available during winter and Olympics graphics were launched in anticipation of the Tokyo games. Most recently jean jackets were added to the assortment of print-it products.
